As promised, the time has come to get to know some of the personality behind the newest additions to the Slick Marketers team. However, in an effort to allow each new member their time to shine, each feature will be posted separately. Without further ado, allow me to formally introduce Danielle Steiner!
1. What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is The Fellowship of the Ring; I used to read the Lord of the Rings series with my dad when I was young, and my love of the story line has really stuck with me throughout the years. Because of it, New Zealand is pretty high on my list of places to visit.
2. What is your favorite TV show?
At the moment, my favorite TV show is Game of Thrones; I think it’s a cinematic masterpiece with a fantastic story line. I’m so invested in the characters!
3. What is your favorite book?
My favorite book is The Golden Compass; I read it as a child and decided that someday I would live in Oxford, England where the story takes place. I did actually achieve this goal and it was every bit as magical as the book implied. One of my professors in Oxford was Philip Pullman, the author of The Golden Compass, which really helped solidify this book as my favorite.
4. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Baby Driver! It’s such a fun soundtrack with quite a few 80’s hits that are always a favorite. If I ever rob a bank, you know it’ll be to this soundtrack.
5. What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is ramen! Not like the cheap cup-of-noodles ramen, although those are tasty too, but real Japanese ramen. I go out to my favorite ramen restaurant at least once a week; everyone who works there knows me.
6. Who is your biggest role model and why?
My dad is my biggest role model. I think he has lived an amazingly interesting life that he should be proud of. On top of that, I know that he has sacrificed a lot of things in his life so that I could live an easy, happy life doing what I choose, and that is something I will always be grateful for.
7. What is your favorite thing about working for Slick Marketers?
I like the easy-going laid back atmosphere of the office; we all work at our own pace and are given the freedom to use our time in ways we find appropriate. Plus, no one does annoying things like playing the Jurassic Park soundtrack everyday.
8. What is your favorite memory (so far) while working for Slick Marketers?
We recently moved into a new office with two large windows, I’m very excited about this! I can’t wait to bring in some plants to decorate. 🙂
9. How did you come to work for Slick Marketers?
I was interested in learning marketing techniques and found the application to work at Slick Marketers on indeed.com. I was emailed soon after applying to come in for an interview, I met with Nikki and Roth, and the rest is history! I’m very glad I ended up here!
10. In your own words, what do you do at Slick Marketers?
I create Instagram posts and manage accounts for our different clients with the purpose of boosting client representation on the internet and creating new business.
11. Out of all the current projects that you’re working on, what would you say is the most enjoyable?
I really enjoy designing the Instagram posts on Photoshop; it’s a good way to get lost in my head and dive into an artistic flow that’s almost therapeutic.
12. What is your educational background?
I have a B.A. from the University of California Santa Cruz in world literature and cultural studies, an honorary certificate of completion from the University of Oxford, and a TESOL certificate from the Asian College of Teachers.
13. What are you most likely doing when you’re not at work?
On weeknights I am usually re-watching old TV shows, waiting for the next season of Game of Thrones. On weekends I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking elaborate meals, and seeing friends.
14. What’s one thing about you that the Slick Marketers team doesn’t already know?
I have a growing collection of over 30 houseplants; I love gardening and seeing my room/home look like a jungle. Plants are a huge part of my life, and I feel like I need to make up for the lack of greenery that Southern California has, after living in Santa Cruz for so long.
